Dave Barry was born in Cardiff and moved to London in the late 60'sstudying percussion at the Royal Academy of Music alongside Pete Jacobsen and Stan Sulzman who were there at the same time. Like Chris Biscoe Dave Barry joined Mike Westbrook in 1979 working with his various ensembles and big band touring Europe and Australia. For twelve years Dave Barry was a member of the Tim Whitehead Quartet, with Pete Jacobsen and Arnie Somoygi. He has been a member of Don Weller's Quartet for over sixteen years appearing on the quartets one album released on Trio Records, and has also been drummer for Don Weller's Big Band for as long. Dave Barry is also a member of the John Critchenson-Art Themen Quartet with whome he recorded.
In the past five years Dve Barry has been teaching drum kit and percussion for the Borough of Croydon, and is now their Percussion Coordinator. He also teaches at the Royal Ballet School, Richmond Park and Shrewsbury House School in Surbiton.
